Will Fianna Fail return more than 25 TDs to the 31st Dail?

Will Fianna Fail return more than 25 TDs to the 31st Dail

Can Fianna fail lose half its support and return more than 25 TDs to the next Dail?

Could they credibly offer them selves to the electorate as an option for government in terms of their likely size and on the basis of their performance over the last three terms?

Would they enter the next election with the same leader and front bench?

or would they prefer a period in opposition to resolve leadership issues and regroup?

Do You know anything about our electoral system? And what percentage is required to take a seat in each constituency. Look it up (in fairness you are not alone, the greens have been written off entirely by equally lazy thinking)

Fianna Fail will take no seat in several 3 seaters

There is probably 25% who would vote FF if they put a stuffed toy on the ballot paper.
Gombeen politics mean they'll pick up at least 60 seats.
Poor candidate selection by other parties also helps.
As Harney said on the Bertie documentary, FF will do anything to stay in power so they'll bend over backwards to do a deal with Labour

More like 25% than 25 seats.

    That is rock bottom bedrock.

    - if they drop below that they might as well call in the Administrators.

they will get more than twenty five in all circumstances, and judging on a mind term poll is pointless.

Would agree with that. FF range will be 50 to 60 seats in the next election. Historically this will be unprecedented. FG will just about get over 60.
Labour will sruggle to get 30. SF and socialists will get 10. GP and indos will share the rest.

I agree that ff will still hold on to 60 seats even with less than 30% of vote and there is just about that when push comes to shove. I also think that FG will not do quite as well as they think as they also have a core vote and usuall only get Labour transfers . The disillusioned FF ers will turn to Labour/sinn Fein first.

FF as a rule don't drop below 35% and FG don't drop below 25%. You might see a few seats shaved off, might even see close to a dozen seats go in a real rout, but they'll remain the largest party in the Oireachtas. And that sort of gives them first dibs on forming a government.
