When the tide is against you - it is really against you - Labour found that out in 97 and FG in 02. Even big names will fall - constituency work will count for nothing when the polls are down and transfers will just disappear.

I'm not sure that's completely true.

There are reports of internal polls showing cabinet ministers in trouble compared to party running mates who are scarcely leaving the constituency.

There is some logic to that. Ministers are the poster boys of the Government. Doesn't mean constituency work counts. 90% of people perhaps more never contact their TD My deepest hope is that FF take no more than 50 seats because that would prob mean they are on opposition benches for 10 years. If this Gov lasts until 2012 and the economy picks up-their vote will too but nothing beyond 30% because there will be such a huge over-hang of debt and the cuts of 2010,2011.

    yes we will.....

I expect in the 45-50 range....(if the internal polls are to be believed)...although, we may have a few deaths during the 5 year term....sad but true
