    What ever happened to...

Barbera flood? She was the woman who threw a cream cake at Bertie Ahern in 2002.

She was arrested and charged with a public order offence. Although she ended up with being sentenced to community service, Judge Oliver McGuinness said at her "trial"
this was no run-of-the-mill public order offence. He said it was premeditated and an attack on democracy and society. The Judge said it was a calculated effort to insult and demean and embarrass in the full glare of all the attendant publicity.
Judge McGuinness said the jail would be an appropriate punishment for such an offence, as well sending out a message to anybody considering a similar thing.
If she did it today, she would probaby get a medal. I think she should run for election next time around.
“A healthy social life is found only, when in the mirror of each soul the whole community finds its reflection, and when in the whole community the virtue of each one is living”

Would you mind if we expanded this thread to a general 'whatever happened to...?'
I for one would like to know what happened to Royston Brady, Ming the Merciless and Danny Morrison.
People tell me all of these are still politically active, and yet they don't seem to get a mention in the media the way they once did.
Please sign the petition to establish a national day of celebration in honour of the vision of the United Irishmen!

THe judge was right. She should have received a week in the slammer for this premeditated assault; and perhaps she may even have regarded that as a fair swap. The name of the assaultee is not germane.

And what happened to the P.ie wiki?
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

What ever happened to...."the rise of Sinn Fein?" a few years back members were bragging about the "inevitable rise" and how this struck fear into the "establishment parties", now they're at what? 8%?

What ever happened to...the rebirth of the PDs? back when they took on Parlon there was serious talk of them becoming "a much more catch all party on the rise"....

What ever happened to...zero tolerance promised by FF in 1997?

What ever happened to...Maire Gegagan Quinn (I know I spelled it wrong) who could have become the first woman Taoseach?

What ever happened to...Adi Roche? I read some info about the 1997 election but info on it is hard to come by, the campaign was a disaster party because her nomination was leaked which caused Bertie to shaft Albert and bring in Mary Mac to compete, but was there other things wrong with that campaign?

What ever happened to...the Dublin metro, how many times are they going to re-announce it before they actually build the thing?

What ever happened to relative poverty? With shares and property loosing billions the poor must be better off, relatively speaking. Feck all good to them of course.

Do you actually know anything about her politics though? I don't but if she goes around throwing cream cakes at respected politicians she's probably a tad deranged and wouldn't do this country a whole lot of good.
