    The sam could be said of the boards of many public companies.

    I don't defend lies, but I will defend people on the basis that nothing has yet been proven against them. I don't want to get into the Bertie debate again, it's been done over and over and taking Bertie/Haugey/Flynn/Lawlor/MacSharry or anyone else you want to throw in the mix is not a representative sample of an organisation with close on 80,000 people or even the consistently largest parliamentary party in the history of the state. Taking money for political favours is wrong. okay! I get it.

    Most people don't. A bad moral sense of smell is not an admirable quality.

    Remember, you're not defending them in a criminal trial. This is politics. It has to do with trust

    Think of a job interview. Someone is strongly associated with dodgy dealings and you're interviewing him or her for a job that requires high ethical standards. Do you appoint him or her on the basis that he or she's never been convicted of anything?

    I know it's a very strong and documented FF habit to make such appointments. The point is that it's not a good habit.

    You know that's true and I know that's true. Let's not be dishonest.
    The SSIA scheme was an anti-inflationary measure. There was no guarantee that FF would be in power when they started maturing.

    They offer free hot whiskies and beer on their first night at the start of the year, well they do in UCD anyway!

    Ah it's good sure! Though, I'd say it results in them having about %85 of its' membership who never go again! I know a good few lads who would have no interest in politics but were members of both Ogra FF and Orga FG! Ogra FG give out free beer aswell, so they'd have a quick few of them and then go across to Ogra FF for a quick few hot whiskies!

    I suppose if you wanted to get your cut as well you'd join Ogra.

    I think the employment appeals tribunal might differ with you there. If it hasn't been proven you may not hold it against them.

    Look; you asked people why they joined, I have said my bit, and neither JohnNash (who only says "completely correct" etc when he agrees as opposed to when that's the case) nor yourself are contributing anything to the purpose of the thread by attacking members and elected officials of Fianna Fáil

    For someone who claims to be familiar with the organisation it's incomprehensible that you're ignorant of the fact that Ógra is PART of the cumann structure.

    And again it doesn't contribute anything to the question;
