Cowen is out of his depth

Leaving aside that he inherited the role of Taoiseach at short notice, Cowen has done nothing whatsoever to stop our slide into what looks like a deep recession.

He has not taken on the vested interests in the public sector and so we will have to borrow huge amounts next year to pay the public sector wage bill.

He has come up with no great economic plan to rescue the country, he should have produced one within a month of taking office as Barrack Obama is doing, instead there are rumblings of some sort of plan, of course to please the back benchers and councillors.

The government are waiting to see what disaster happens next, watching it seems from the sidelines and hoping the football doesn't come their way. There is no effort to take control, no effort to stiumulate the economy or to reassure people.

He has not even stamped his mark on the cabinet, with still the old faces sitting around the cabinet table, most of whom have lead us into our national problems.

He and his minister for Finance's response to the crisis was initially to say 'crisis, what crisis?'. They tried to deny what everyone else knew. Now they are coming around to the idea the country is in trouble. That's not leadership from the top, it's following public opinion, which is just following and not leading. Again it's all a wait and see approach.

Cowen is just not up to the job. It's time for someone else to take over.

Nothing that he can do now can restore faith in him. There is no buzz around his press conferences or speeches. He's a sitting duck for FG. Hopefully he will be there until after the Local and Europeans and then in a panic stricken move, FF will dump him.

In fairness to Mary Palin, at least she acheived something.. Like losing the extra 4 stone she carried around. Clowen looks like he will farking burst at any moment.. We could have a new leader after Xmas if he indulges himself at the festive dinner table..

Country village solicitor with little or no experience of the real world who inherited Daddy's rotten borough tries to run bankrupt, corrupt country in midst of global economic meltdown.
Of COURSE he's out of his depth.

The only politician I have heard who seems to have the mental capacity to tackle the current disasterous economic problems is Richard Bruton.

Brian Cowen is woefully out of his depth. He couldn't handle the Dept. Of Health due to it's complexity. What chance does he have with this unprecented economic collapse?

    Curious

As of this post 10% are saying NO - Cowen is not out of his depth.

Can the Web admin. confirm the rumour that the IP traced to those NO votes routes back to the Central Mental Hospital in Dundrum?

That's very patronising towards the mentally ill. They are mentally ill, not stupid.
