but does anyone doubt for a second that if we went to the DOF website now and pulled up a copy of the budget we could find at least 20 stupid things in there that could easily be cut to make room for this?
I'd say easily, whats the storage costs for the electronic voting machines?

Wouldn't doubt it for a millisecond!( and probably more than 20) or at least we would come up with the way to finance the vaccine programme!

His abstaining highlights the inadequacies in the whip system in this country. I'm pretty sure he wanted to vote against the government, but couldn't because he'd be kicked out of the party.

TDs should be allowed to vote whatever way they want, that'd be real democracy.
McDaid is simply looking after himself, he did it at the election, hes doing it now. Dont mistake this for any kind of heroism, votes is all hes interested in. Good riddance

AND I see joe Behan voted with the government on this one! So don't touch the over 70s medical card and protect a 12 yr olds education just NOT her cervix!!
I heard on the radio that it had come down to 390 and as it is 3 injections overtime, it's paid in three installments. I'm not flush but I'm going to proceed with it for my daughter.

Amazing how those poor downtrodden people in the six counties can have the vaccine while those of us in the liberated zone have to endure Zanu-FF thievery at the expense of young girls.

You'd certainly be popular in N.I. if you continued with Bertie's fantasy of organising up there.

You should be proud of yourselves.
Simple arithmatic dictates that this couldn't cost €600 per person and cost 10,000,000. So it pobably cost no-where near that. If you are so worried about your daughters probably tiny risk of getting cancer get the vaccine yourself. Given the screening program it probably wouldn't be necessary but it's your money.

    It doesn't.

It costs about €140. It has to be administered twice and the GP has to be paid to go into the schools to give it. That's where the figure of €600 comes from.

Personally, I would given a far higher priority to the vaccine and told the pensioners to shove it.

I'm generally supportive of Harney, but she got this one wrong.

Its a €100 per injection and 3 injections so €300 for the vaccine and then the cost of Doctors giving the injection so about €400

Now can you please state your medical qualifications before you start telling people the probably don't need it???

Storage of voting systems isn't paid out of the DOHC Budget, and doesn't cost anywhere near €10m per annum.

The €10m would have to come out of the health budget.

Is it physically imposable to transfer money within govt departments now?
Doesn't the money all come from one fund before it's allocated?
