Brian Cowen-"the right man for the job"

what the fuk does that mean?
I'm sick to the back teeth of hearing FF supporters spouting this nonsense at every opportunity, but nobody can tell me why Biffo Cowen is the "right man for the job".
These same imbeciles, when spouting this nonsense, usually come out with other priceless lines such as "sure the building couldnt continue" or "what's happening is totally outside of our control"

if "it's outside of our control", could someone(indeed anyone!), tell me what the "job" is, and why Brian Cowen is "the right man for the job"????

Re: Brian Cowen-"the right man for the job"

He is the right man for the job of losing FF the next election if it carries on like this. He stubbornly resisted stamp-duty reform until it was too late, in part because of FF arrogance towards the demands of their junior Coalition partner before the 2007 election. They say that pride goes before the fall, and so it may prove to be. He presided over the ATM that is benchmarking, and the failure to streamline the public-sector, which has contributed to an unnecessary and unsustainable €6 billion deficit in the govt's coffers. As health-minister he failed to reform the moribund, Soviet-style health service. My reservations about his accession to the FF and Taoiseach's throne are so far proving wellfounded. He gives the impression of reacting to problems rather than anticipating them first. Norman Lamont's quip of being "in office but not in power" springs to mind.

Its much much too early to judge him as he took over just when the hols were starting.

Have to wait to May/June really to judge him properly and there will be elections then so they will take place after the honeymoon period is over.

I gave my impression of what this phrase mean on the "is Cowen in Charge or not?" thread.

Actually I think I do understand why he is exactly the right person at the right time. Everyone else knew that he and Bertie have flushed the Economy down the pan, and none of them wanted to get their hands dirty. They'd rather stand around by whistling "nuthing to do with me, boss!" as the brown stuff seeps round their ankles.

I totally have to agree here. Cowen was groomed as an apprentice to Bertie since well before the 'Prime Time' episode introducing him as 'Biffo'

He stood by and did nothing as it was revealed that bertie was stealing from his party, so why should be expect him to do anything as the economy is going down the toilet? He's an FF man true and true, which means he only cares about his own and his friends bank balances.
