Its nonsense to suggest that O'Dea could be leader of Fianna Fáil, utter nonsense.

At this moment in time the only likely winners in a contest would be Hanafin or Cowen. I currently favour Mary Hanafin.

Yea Mary Would whip 'em all into shape!!

    next Maggie Thatcher I'd Say

Personally though I'd favour one of my own TDs, Mr Cowen.
A man with vision and pragmatism, very necessary tools for leading this country into a third term.

    Because that worked spectacularly well!

One thing that Fianna Fail does well is that when they change leader, the new leader is the leader. Any helpful attempts by predecessors to rule from retirement are treated with ruthless brilliance. Remind me again why Mary Mac is president........

If there was a Four way contest for the leadership between O'Dea, D.Ahern,Cowen and Hannifan--with the usual back room deals and threats of exposing past scandals that were covered up in the past--the black mail, the bribes and the favours called in---when it was all over O'Dea would be the only one left standing--despite his appearance--hes one tough and ruthless little Bstard

Ok here it is at a very early stage,

    O' Dea - No chance. 100/1

    Hannifin - Possibility. 12/1

Cowen - Ugly that he is, favourite. 10/1

    Aherne - Joint Favourite. 10/1

Out of interest, did anyone run against Bertie in 94 or Albert in 92? I think Mary O Rourke ran in 92 but not sure, and cant find anything on the contest (if there was one) of 94.
