    Re: where is Mary Coughlan?

She's reading the Lisbon Treaty. Should be finished by next weekend. Then she'll really start campaigning!

Cowardly Cowan is damaged goods. Not only was he a failure as ministers for Health and Finance, now he can add the failure as Taoiseach in his first challenge to that list. He is simply damaged goods from now on.

What a fool this man is. He insults the intellegence of the people of the country by saying he hadnt read the Lisbon Treaty, and on top of that he insults the Fine Gael voters prior to the ballot. This guy simply has no class. He is already a liability to the country.

He says he takes full responsibility, so what does that mean. Is he going to resign? Answer -No.
In politics if you take responsibility for total failure you reseign. As per usual its just, guff.

The damage done to this country by this mans actions are real and lasting. What role have we in a two tier Europe . Any guess what tier the Germans and the other big states will put Ireland into.

For the past few months FF and their gombeens on this site and in the media have been kissing Bertie Ahernes Arse with his so called goodwill tour, well if that time had been spent hammering home the importance of Lisbon and its impplications for this country and our childrens future then it would have been passed.

Sing Dixie from now on the Europe Train is leaving the station and this country is not on board.

as a ff supporter im very worried its hard to see if cowen will recover from this in time for the locals next year i dont think his connecting with middle ireland we need to see some new ideas comming from the gov to kick start the economy and get the banks to give out money again or else ff will loose more seats next year off a low mark .

No he's not. He was happy to sign away our soverignty without even reading the treaty - and he was supposed to be negotiating it. No he's not, and neither are any of the Yesmen who advocated as Yes vote without being arsed to read the thing - and worringly that appears to be 95% of the Dail. What the hell to we pay these people to do?

I believe he'll turn out to be a disaster in time and has shown several times why so but you must remember that he is still popular right now and ff is regretably more popular than it has been for some time well in more than one poll so calls for him to go are premature.give it 6 months after the budget and he'll be crumbling against enda which is pretty bad

Pat Rabbitte pointed out in the Sindo today that Cowen has already proven that he will not enjoy the connection to Dublin voters which Bertie had.
He opines that Bert would never have antagonised FG the way Cowen did when he accused them of not doing enough to promote the treaty and that Bert would have been way too cute to admit to not having read the treaty.
FF'ers like to think of Cowen as an intellectual heavyweight of the party - which in fairness would not be too hard in FF.

What arrant nonsense. Ofcourse brian is fit to lead. Hes in a difficult situation no douvt about it, but I have total confidence in him, as does the nation. And dont start by saying that because there was a No vote that the govt doesnt have public support, that is nonsense and you all know it. And as for SF emmbers and debrun on the politics show this morning claiming SF are now the only political party who speak for the people, quite simply - catch yourself on. Bring on the next redC poll.
