Why Does Martin Cullen get such a hard time?

I cant understand all the antipathy towards Martin. I am A FG supporter but cant fully understand it. Yes he botched up on the voting machines but was that not orginally Dempsey's child? Secondly the cabinet backed him on it. Didnt Brennan overrun on several transport projects such as the LUAS but he is not despised . Hanafin hounded parents of autistic kids and she doesnt get as much bad press.

let me see , could it be the only reason that he is a member of Fianna Fail is becuase Mary Harney became leader of the PD's, the question is now where would Martin Cullen be if Pat Cox became leader of the pds.

Cullen wasn't particularly enthused about Pat either but saw him as the least bad option. He probably would have jumped anyway.

People don't like Martin because of the evoting to-do(which was first suggested by Brendan Howlin). After that the media decided they didn't like him and he was turned into calamity Cullen. He was a decent MOT and MOSA.

Interesting Point -did Cullen leave FF because of Harney? Why was he appointed a minister -was that part of his transfer deal?

Because he's a smoker perhaps? Or because he's from Waterford?
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

He was neither. In fact he was an embarrassing joke in both positions.

Well given that you are an impartial observer with absolutly no bias either for or against Fianna Fáil you opinion must be taken as fact as you are infallable. I bow to your perfection sir. No need to back any of your assertions up with facts or logic or any of that business. The tappity tap on that keyboard is proof enough for me.

Cullen left the PDs around the time that Dessie O'Malley annointed Harney as his chosen successor. Pat Cox was shafted in true FFer fashion and it is something that the PDs have never recovered from. Pat Cox as leader of the PDs is one of those great 'what if' speculations of Irish politics. Perhaps the PDs would have eclipsed FG. However the reality is that the PDs spiraled down the toilet under Harney and McDowell. Perhaps Cullen's political instincts are a lot better than some people think.
