Minister Martin for top job in Dept of Finance

It has just been announced on breakingnews.ie that Minister Martin is in the running for Brian Cowen's position as the Minister of Finance.

Is this a wise move on the part of Micheal Martin?

They're all 'in the running' for a cabinet post. Stupid way of phrasing it.

Anyway, with Cowen as head and Martin as Finance Minister, i see FF suffering from a few image problems.

Yeah country is in safe hands with anyone of these guys, competence is the middle name of FF led governments in recent years. We are as you would say as safe as houses (wrong term but you know what I mean) with Michael, Noel, Biffo and the boys. I hope Bertie gets the top job in Europe so Europe can share in this level of competence and ethical standards that FF excel in.

Correct me if I am wrong but Brian Lenihan has only held Ministerial Office since 2002 -Serving as minister for state between 2002 and 2005 and then minister for children from 2005. I don't think this gives him enough experience to be Tánaiste.

What bloody experience? The position of Tánaiste has no real power, especially if the occupant is from the same party as the Taoiseach. Lenihan or Coughlan for Tanaiste. End of story.

Martin is a bit too excitable and bleeding heart... he'd be much better punted up to the Aras.
