It seems that RTE have cottoned on and are refusing to stand for any more rubbish from Ahern. The Crying Game interview is more embarrassing to RTE than Ahern, as they fell for it. Will the Sindo learn the same lessons?

How quickly you forget that until late in the election campaign, the Indo and Sindo were also ferociously critical of Ahern on the Bertiegate issue. I think they learned the lessons that if they want to continue as the most popular Irish newspaper they needed to more closely reflect public opinion which is that on balance, Bertie should stay at least for the time being.
FF under Ahern have one of the lowest popularity ratings ever. Bertie is a busted flush. They are afraid to shaft him because of what happened when he shafted Albert.
Bruton out manouvred him and left him in opposition for 2 years. It would have been seven if it wasn't for Labours pathetic campaign.
The Sindo is backing Bertie because it has been taken over by a bunch of second rate FF hacks. Its circulation is only remailing healthy because the Business Post has a poor sports section and a lot of wives don't let their husband buy the News of the World.
What was truly embarassing for RTE was when charlie Bird decided to do a bit of work and come on the 9 o'clock news looking all solemn and oozing gravitas to tell us Bertie fast tracked a passport for a man whose mother was born in Cork... Hilarious...![]()
Will the Irish People be bullied by the Gunman..?
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but didn't Senators and TDs fast-track over 7000 passports that same year?
Exactly...! I don't know Charlie's RTE salary but what stories has he uncovered in the last 12 months to warrent his posh title...?Originally Posted by clareman51

Actually, I'd say it combines the politics of the Sunday TelegraphOriginally Posted by essexboy
with the salaciousness of the News of the World.
Now, De Bert can do no wrong in the Sindo's eyes.
Wrong, it changed its policy in the first week of the campaign, going from being hyper-critical to brown-nosing him.Originally Posted by FutureTaoiseach
However they spent all their time launching nasty attacks on Cowen as well as Kenny.
The Sindo has long given up any pretence of being a credible neutral newspaper.
