    John McGuinness

Has John McGuinness given up all hopes of leading FF. I ask because of his public statement that he is voting No in the Marriage Equality referendum. No one can believe that the future of FF lies in opposing change every time it is happening and it must weaken his position as a potential leader if he publicly ignores the party’s position on a major changes to the constitution.

Minding his older vote. And no doubt a shot across MM.

Cynical man. Perfect FF leadership material.

    Leadership challenge is it?

FF should run a mile, time for one of the younger guys to take over. Micky Martins running mate is the most talented and trusted.

If Martin was opposing the SSM referendum, McGuinness would support it. He's a boring windbag at this stage.

A man of pick'n'mix principles, hoping the shininess of his parish pump bedazzles us blind. Him and FF deserve each other.

I think McG is destined to become a backbencher for life, considered to have ability by most, but no leader will be willing to endure his ego. That said, he'll be re-elected for years and leave a "controversial" opinion out of him now and then to keep the profile up.

A kind of Fianna Fail Kevin Myers, if you like.

Another sign of the internal collapse of FF. The party are formally backing SSM but people like O'Cuiv and McGuinness are openly defiant of Martin.

Theres the FF that Martin is trying to present ( progressive, liberal, modern ), espoused by people like Averil Power who is all over the media and then there's the real FF whose position is closer to the Dave McSavage barman character ( "queaares" ).

Waits until the eve of the referendum, realizes there's a significant minority voting No, and jumps in to claim that vote. Cynical FF playbook 101.

You do appreciate that he is loathed across the party?
