    The St Lukes Fund

I've made reference to such a fund on the Mahon Tribunal thread hoping that any FF supporters/members could confirm the existence of such a fund and the nature and history of donations to it. Who are its trustees and administrators? Is it registered as a political fund within the state? Was a donation of $45,000 given to it in the mid-nineties by a US Consortium with interests in the establishment of a Casino at the old Phoenix Park Racecourse? Any FF takers?

I've no idea about it - but wonder if it has anything to do with the questions raised in the article, (refering to Berties biography)here?

In effect, St. Lukes was Bertie’s home. It was apparently bought and paid for by Bertie’s friends and/or colleagues. After the property was purchased it was noticed that major refurbishment was required. (Presumably, this was before people employed an engineer to check out properties in advance of committing huge sums.).

The purchase price was £57,000 (£25,000 of which was paid up front by 25 donors) and the refurbishment cost £50,000. These figures need to be repeated - £57,000 to buy, £50,000 to refurbish, in the mid 80s?? Was the entire house reconstructed?

    Perhaps,

The purchase price in the mid-80’s was £57,000. The house was assigned to a group of five trustees
    Who are the five trustees?

A four bedroom Victorian house on a private square in Rathgar was bought by a relative of mine for £28'000 in 1987.

IR£50,000 to do it up in the mid 1980s....WTF, they must have put in gold taps in here as well! Was Larkin the designer?

When the FF spin machine went into action last September and again in May we were led to believe Ahern was staying in a rat infested room in St Lukes after he left his wife for Larkin in 1987 and that for his own safety he needed a house.

By the looks of it we were filled once more with a load of poop.

The Chilton O'Connor connection is striking, particularly Lawlor's son's role with them. That angle needs to be delved into in much greater detail...

Yep - especially as he admitted in the dail to meeting with them while in Los Angeles.

According to the link it was found to have a major crack in its foundation, if that is true the structure would have needed underpinning, which is major and expensive work, and could also result in the need of major structural repair to the rest of the structure.

Generally, it's not really major or expensive work, and 20 grand would go a long way towards underpinning a house today, let alone in the 1980's.

Another thread? ANOTHER one? seriously, I know this stuff is news at the moment, but starting new threads on this issue is very close to becoming classified as spam.
