Former FF TD on trial over tax charge

A former Fianna Fáil TD has gone on trial in Limerick on a charge arising from a garda investigation into his tax affairs.

Michael Collins, 66, of Whiteoak, Redhouse Hill, Patrickswell, Co Limerick, has denied he obtained a tax clearance certificate under false pretences in 2002.

If he is found guilty he should be both heavily fined and jailed as an example to everyone.
Further than that the Collins family treat a Dail seat almost as a right and this court case has been postponed to today's date so as not to interfere with the handing over of his Seat to his nephew, Niall, who may be a good and trustworthy politician but would probably not have gained the Seat if his uncle is, as is likely, shamed in the Courts, just another crooked FF'r.

    Well, according to rte.ie (http://www.rte.ie/news/2007/0925/tax.html):

Mr Bohan, who is aged 74, was a Fianna Fáil senator for 20 years before standing down at the last election.

He was Fianna Fáil's Seanad spokesman on finance
Maybe they're not ALL, but they ALL don't have to be!

And still 41% of people will vote for them regardless!
