    RedC/SBP poll

In tomorrow's SBP a RedC poll on Ahern and the economy. The main results are: 42pc do not believe Ahern's story at the Tribunal while 32pc believe him; 59pc believe that he should resign if he is shown to have lied to the Tribunal incl. 40pc who voted FF and a majority who voted Green in May; 43 pc say the Tribunal should not be investigating Ahern's private finances; 35pc do not believe Ahern can manage the economy; and confidence that the country is going in the right direction has fallen 15pc from January to a +2pc rating. I may have further poll results shortly.

Any specific party results or is it just Ahern and the Economy?

"43 pc say the Tribunal should not be investigating Ahern's private finances;"

How many feel it shouldn't need to?
We need to radically change every system that has enabled the wholesale destruction of the Irish landscape, rural and urban. There is no time for incremental step by step measures. The systems have failed utterly and the only hope for a real recovery requires the rule book to be torn up completely.

Certainly the FF and FG figures are broadly in line with research carried out for FG in July, which had FF at 42% and FG at 27%. Good for FG to be maintaining the gains made earlier this year - something that hasn't always happened in the immediate aftermath of elections, when their poll rating has tended to dip a bit.

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.

Its worse then the Green Party could ever have imagined.

The voters are so annoyed at them, that they are going to lie in the opinion polls so that the crushing defeat they face in '09 will come as a complete shock.

    Serves them right!
