Dermot Ahern throws his hat in the ring

Dermot Ahern has said Bertie Ahern jumped the gun in nominating Brian Cowen as his successor.

Signs of anticipated trouble at the Tribunal and a change of leadership in the short term?

Apologies: Reported on both Today FM & RTE news bulletins at 5.00pm.

Mollox, you've been around here long enough to know how we do things. Where did you hear this?

These one / two liners posts are rather lazy.

Even I, a career Bertie basher, don't like this kind of thing without a source.

Indeed I would want to see a definate, reputable source before I believe this, brown noser has said anything like this
By 2020, 12.75Lts of petrol will cost you just under €30, today it will cost you €16.42 exactly.

He'd have no support, shoe-horned into Dublin, too slick by half.
    Its Cowen all the way

Whatever about Cowan's ability, his appointment would be to the detriment of the part. Too arrogant, dismissive and insular. It would be on a par with Tony Blair's replacement by Gordon Brown

You think so? I'm not too sure. I feel it could be messy after Ahern leaves. I think it's been too stable under Ahern, he hasn't had any heaves, led full-term governments and swept all disunity under the carpet. Divisions in FF could show themselves after Ahern leaves.

No one in FF will have the guts to take on Biffo - they'll hum and haw and make shapes but in the end it will be Biffo.
