Does anyone out there know if there was an Act in place when the Bert was making his foreign currency and Irish pound lodgments, as they should then have been reported on by AIB to the relevant authority and then examined in detail.

Foreign exchange controls would have been in place at that time by the Central Bank. I do know of any money laundering laws at that time. Ask Bertie, he was the Finance Minister at the time!
