Dermot Ahern blames bailout for making him ill

In today's Sunday Times, there is an article about an interview given by Ahern to Parchment Magazine of the Dublin Solicitor's Bar association.

Ahern says he was "physically and mentally worn out when he announced he would not be seeking re-election in November 2010.

"My health had suffered and I had contracted rheumatoid arthritis", he said.

"There is no rheumatoid arthritis in my family and the third consultant I saw came to the conclusion that it was the stress that caused it"

He said the final straw was his family being targeted after the bailout. "In the final few weeks of the bailout, my house was picketed by People Before Profit,"

"Even in the darkest days of the IRA and being a politician in this country, the Provos never interfered with my house or family."

"Then my daughters were verbally abused in Dublin"
Breathing new life into Fianna Fáil is like breathing new life into the Black and Tans.

From what you are saying above, I don't think he is blaming the bailout. He is blaming the way some people in this country respond to political actions by attacking the person and their family in a threatening manner.

People Before Profit picketed his house?

    That's not on.

I have little time for the man but family and home is sacrosanct.

    Did he call the Gardai?

Did they invade his house and refuse to leave?

It was an excellent move to picket his house. That sort of thing really gets to them.
"interfered", - making it sound sexual and unseemly then..
Do people forget the damage these people have wrought that effect children and families up and down the country?

    Dermot - Fk off.

Go and roll around on your bed with your big fat pension and that'll make your arthritis better.

Or try going to the airport and asking those whose emigration has been enforced by you and your corrupt fellow fianna failers how they feel.

Sure his pension should be something to make him feel a little better.!!! While we are paying up to our eyeballs for their mistakes and funny enough my health is ok.
