Deal with Fianna Fail - Deal with the Devil

In her new book 'A Deal with the Devil: The Green Party in Government' Mary Minihan most accuratly describes Fianna Fáil as what it is the devil incarnate. But the role in destroying the country the Green Party played can't be underestimated, John Gormley's policy of appeasement enabled FF to continue to wreck havoc in an economic and political environment that was already fubar. I wish Eamon Ryan would acknowledge the importance of his decisision to approve everything we now recognize as the devils effort to steal absolutely everything from the people, even its future. FF could only do so with the help of the Greens.

In time, how will Labour's deal with FG be described?

As for the Greens, they never seemed to grasp the concept of collective cabinet responsibility and remained blissfully unaware of the fact that decisions of government would obliterate any good the two senior ministers achieved in their own departments. They deserve to be treated with contempt.

+1. They signed their deal with the words of the "Planet Bertie" sppech ringing in their ears.

They allowed the blanket bank guarantee and the bailout deal to happen without proper cabinet discussion, let alone Parliamentary scrutiny.

Is she suggesting that FF deliberately sabotaged the nations finances?
If she can prove that these acts were deliberate then FF should be deemed a proscribed organization, its cummanns broken up and the party disbanded.
However, I suspect she has no proof at all of criminal intent by FF

I think Gormless worst move was standing behind Bert the day he announced he was throwing in the towel, after the horse winnings and Carruth debacle. Gormless said afterwards he could never forget that Bert invited them into government and gave him chance to be a minister!

surprising the legal eagles here are not on to this one. There are many highly qualified defamation specialists working for p.ie (in their own mind)

    Lenihan freely admitted it.

Happily, he was no saint either, for even in his last weeks, as he basked in the unseasonable sunlight of the last spring he would ever see, Lenihan chortled merrily about the set of landmines he had kept for the new administration.
