All councillors, TD s etc should have an unblemished history with dealing with the Revenue.

Do councillors need a tax clearance certificate ?

This should be part of the reform agenda.

Immediate resignation and fines if such things happen.

Why are tax robbers not locked up, just like social welfare robbers?

Cos they haven't got the cell colour scheme they want with the ensuite, Oh and they are contributors to all the body politic! Jail, and heavy fines " for non payment of the household charge" are for the lower orders only!............ The politics of fear, remember the woman on her deathbed being treatened by Noonan. That was a financial threat of ruin also using ( abusing) all the powers of the state at Minister Noonans's disposal!

FF councillor in top five on Revenue
    That report also says:

"champion horse trainer and jockey Christy Roche — who is based near the Curragh in Co Kildare — settled for €165,468, €94,974 of which was made up of interest and penalty payments. As well as an under-declaration of income tax, Revenue classed Mr Roche as one of its offshore assets investigation cases.

Roche was one of Ireland’s leading jockeys and enjoyed a 30-year career which included three Irish Derby victories. In recent years, he was a successful trainer for high-profile owners such as JP McManus. "

No political party should stand over the actions of people who defraud the tax system--party members who cheat to the extent that their names are published by the Revenue should incur immediate expulsion from their parties ant the electoral law should be amended to provide that they are ineligible to for membership of local authorities.

I will contact ff as well (although I'm not a memBer of any party, I dont see why I would be precluded from contacting them)
Still no news on FF's disciplining this councillor since he was named as a tax defaulter in December (though FG have now let 9 months pass before taking any steps against Cllr Clendennen).
