Berties's pal in a spot of bother!!!!

Looks like Bertie's friend and Fianna Fail National executive council member Jerry beades, has left an unpaid bill at Listowel races. He had to be pursued for the money through the Courts. It seems the case was adjourned in August because the Fianna Fail activist "promised the money would be paid within a week"!!!!

Pity he didn't ring Bertie for a few tips as that's where he made his fortune & all would have been sorted.

Perhaps Eamon O Cuiv could lend this poor man his rosary beades....

As Fr. Dougal Maguire might say, 'there's a lot to be said for it'!

The article said "the prominent...", meaning Beades himself, not "a prominent..." as you've quoted above. Still a bit of an eye-brow raiser that the "millionaire" couldn't pay his bills. Everything in the garden not so rosy for Jerry these days it would seem. Hardly news worthy though is it? "Close friend of Bertie Ahearn in, being a wee bit dodgy, shocker!" From what I've seen of the guy on TV and read in the papers, Im not too sure how you'd describe the guy as prominent thought. Without the bold Bert at the helm, he's not a very liked individual within FF circles and from what I've read, since he was put on the party's Executive by Ahearn people have been itching to turf him off it. Think they've to wait until a conference proper to do that though.

FFer stuck for €1600?

Times must be bad.
FG are the new FF - Expect many more tales of incompetence and years of blunders, all blamed on somebody else.

The travelling 'expenses' for a return trip on one of those 'prison visiting committees' to the prison furthest away from him would have sorted him for the €1600. Pity FF cannot appoint him these days!

JOD would have spilt €1600 down his shirt on a good night in Chelters. These FF'ers are slipping
