Mammy interviewed by Aine Lawlor on RTE One's One To One

Just started on RTE One. Mary O'Rourke says people got tired of Fianna Fail being in Gov for so long.

    It's not that for sure.

More like 50bn of bank bailout, selling the country out, screwing over the sick, young, students and the elderly, greasing each other's palms and laughing at the fate of the average Joe as his livelihood was strangled.

Tends to kill off your faith in humanity.

I think the media's attraction to Mammy is that she always appears to answer a question honestly. She still supports THAT party etc. etc. but when she's asked a question she answers it, there's no pause for thought or calculated replies. I think people like that. I'm not sure it's a case of being sick of Mammy, but more that here's a lack of others with a political character like her.

It's funny how O Rourke has no problem sticking the knife into party colleagues yet will never actually criticise the party and admit that they're wrong, though as FFers go at least she's open and is always good for unintentionally damaging the party.

Also, it's great seeing Aine Lawlor at work on tv. I assume this was recorded a while ago, and hope she recovers speedily.
