Given that Paschal Donohue outpolled Mary Lou, why such a ready assumption that she'd take Ahern's seat?
"Elite - a small superior group; esp one that has a power out of proportion to its size." (Oxford English Dictionary)

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.

Well seemingly Dub Central will be completely open next time around. A weak sitting FF TD, Bertie gone, and possibility of Gregory and Costello bowing out. That leaves an almost certian chance for FG in the form of Paschal Donohoe. Mary lou did poorly and with resentment at the perceived shafting of Nicky Kehoe, it may be Kehoe getting it the nod to run in 2012.
Ireland interests are best secured within a more dynamic EU. Vote YES to Lisbon.
