Nah. They were politicians. This is like watching the dueling banjos scene from the movie Deliverance.

Nearly gone now I think--when Larry the lad who epitomises everything that FF stands for is so ashamed of the party that he would prefer to seek higher office under an independant banner you must conclude that the only thing left for FF is the funeral.

If you were born in Anfield, fair enough - assumed it was a reference to the football club as if you live here it's a little unusual that you would still define yourself by some place in Britain where you were born. If you're still in Anfield, next time you're over, buy a book on Irish history!
And why exactly would I not define myself by where I was born? I may have Irish parents and have an interest in Irish politics. But I am English and proud of the fact, I lived there for the first 23 years of my life before getting a job over here. I still think that the FF party is the worst thing that has ever happened to Ireland. The mantra seems to be me first, party second and country nowhere, the most scandalous misuse of the English language is that you call yourselves a Republican party.

Without FF parties to the left would rise in support to fill the void, and we would have non civil war left/right divide, and maybe then we could get on with things in a more non tribalistc approach. God knows we need it....

Fair play. Though if you are not interested in the football club you should know that most here will make an assumption about your loyalties.

I think you mean very slight interest. If you really thought CJH led the country through the late 70s.

I have a passing in British politics myself. Like enough to hate the Tories. Even though Thatcher did lead the country through the swinging 60s... ;-)

I am quite pleased with last week's results for that reason: Martin is safe and no lessons will be learned. He is the William Hague of Fianna Fail.
Unenthusiastic about any of the buggers.
