Cowen kicks ass on the Week in Politics

Kick ass performance by Cowen on the Week in Politics this evening. Phil Hogan's rehashing of Cullen, Roche and the old FF/SF coalition issue looked like amateur stuff!

    For one I mostly agree.

He really has a good spiel on the contradictions of FG/Lab spending plans.

O'Snodaigh is vastly improved as a speaker. Still no sytle but he can put ideas across effectively.

Hogan is better than he is performing. He interrupts Cowen when he is making substantive points just to hit the waffle button and lower the tone of the debate.

As an independent bystander I actually thought he looked under pressure, but it may have just been indignation at the points being raised. The worst performance was by A-A-A-A-Aengus though.

Makes you wonder, if there is a Rainbow - how would the Thunderbird deal with Cowen as leader of the opposition.

i dont agree at all - he looks hysterical, ranting and raving about the opposition. why are government ministers obsessed with talking about the opposition????

most media encounters over the last 2 weeks have seen government and fg/lab people take similar lines

FF: "ten billion spent on this, 100 trillion spent on that, 4% of gdp debt burden etc etc" (EXACTLY like cowen just now)

fg/lab: "contract for a better ireland, enda kenny pledge, alliance for change, 2300 extra beds, free insurance for children under 16"

now - which do you think appeals to voters? and why do you think fine gael and labour have surged in the polls ?

Cowen is seriously rattled by FF's imminent spell in Opposition. He comes across as an arrogant oaf.

The best thing for the rainbow (and what I think will happen anyway) is for Pat make the decisions and Enda to do the selling. That might work and I think Enda doesn't have the kind of ego that would rebel against such a thing. He'll be fine with office rather than power.

Cowen was bullying, incoherent and extremely offputting, the only concern I have is that as a result of his little rant and shinner bashing tirade that he will actually do sinn fein some good and that's never a good thing in my opinion.

think cowen won, but more interestingly , the video of the campaign over the last week clearly showed that bertie and gerry adams are the only leader's ordinary people want to meet in great numbers , the others were mainly seen with small crowds or party hacks.....
