Have FF ever come second in an opinion poll?

Whilst their current poll ratings are bad, have FF ever actually been behind FG in a poll? Ever? Genuine question no agenda

I'd reckon probably yes, seeing as under Fitzgerald they came VERY close to FF in the election in terms of seats... I dont know for sure, but I'd say yes possibly back then... but then again, back then, there wasnt exactly widescale polling.

In October 1982 they were level at 36% core and 42% net. Theres always been a gap since.

FF were third behind FG & Labour in Dublin's 1979 Euro election:

    FF - 84,008
    FG - 89,658
    LAB - 87,150

The three were also very close together in the Dublin 2004 Euros:

    FF - 97,950
    FG - 90,749 (1 candidate)
    LAB - 95,051

Opinion polls weren't done in the 1920s.

Probably not. They weren't founded until 1933.

FF was founded in 1927. The question is on whether they ever came second in an opinion poll.

No, the question was "have FF ever actually been behind FG in a poll", and you said probably in the '20s. I pointed out that they (obviously meaning Fine Gael, this being an Irish political website I didn't feel the need to clarify which) did not exist then.
