The guy has been a very weak performer, lots of solid sounding talk, but avoiding all decisions, and famed for constantly referring back to Cowen. That such a vacuous fool, who owes his position via nepotism, thinks he is leadership material, illustrates just how far FF have plummeted.

Dara is a very competent man.

What's wrong with nepotism? Were Brian Lenihan and Brian Cowen any less effective at saving the country in 2008, when the banks nearly bankrupted us because they "happen" to be from political families. I don't think so.

What's wrong with the lad being ambitious?
It just so happens that FF have an awful lot of talent at cabinet level, in any other country he'd be a full government minister at least.

To be fair Dara is probably looking for a cabinet position after the election, I'd say enterprise trade and employment might suit him. I think Cowen will shuffle the ranks around, especially with so many to retire. I'd say Dara has a great chance so of full ministerial rank within the next three months.

Word in Mayo is that he'll top the poll, that would surely give him the last push.

    V. entertaining all right! Love the bit about Biffo shuffling ranks after the GE!

More like shuffling barstools in Clara for that fool.

And is DC the one who struggles to read through a Press Release?

Actual mentions by Caleary of wanting to be leader: 0.
If you're the first out the door, that's not called panicking.

"Among Fianna Fáil TDs elected for the first time in 2007 were Mr Calleary, Meath East TD Thomas Byrne (33), Cork South-Central’s Michael McGrath (34), Limerick West TD Niall Collins (37) and Dublin North’s Darragh O’Brien (36)."

I think we can safely say that FF will be out of power for a generation, if this is the leadership they are planning to install
