If Obama can win the Peace prize while fighting wars then maybe Bertie could get the Economics prize for destroying Ireland.

I know digout also says this, but as we know he probably read some other poster saying it and just repeats it without knowing why, so if you don't mind could you expand on that a little, just enough to include a fact or two if possible.

His evidence at the Tribunal is clearly full of lies, this was most evident at his last appearance before he resigned as Taoiseach when he tried to claim that a newly discovered sterling lodgement was cash that he "won on the horses".

Maybe 'Per-Jurer' was a premature description until Mahon reports. I would like to change it to 'Per Diamer'.

Yesterday's man trying to create some contraversy to keep his name in the public domain.

Forget him, walk away from the stinking carcase.

I'll leave aside for the moment and indeed won't even mention the fact that no one "discovered" a new lodgement, it was he himself who brought it to the tribunals attention nor is it worth mentioning the he never said "he won it on a horse". He in fact said it was from a "sporting bet", he could just as well have meant and probably did, as it was in England, that it was a bet on football, but, as I said we won't mention any of that.

If I understand you correctly, you are saying the first poster said "perjurer" only because of his own beliefs rather than on any finding of fact, is that correct?

As a lifelong cynic with respect to any motive of Ahern I suspect he is picking easy stories that he knows there is public support for to try and curry some favour with the Irish public as he prepares his case for a run on the presidency.

As for him ever winning the Nobel Prize in Peace, well now that they have given it to someone who has done nothing yet for peace, it would not be without reason that they could give it to someone who just happened to turn up when documents needed to be signed.

I can't speak for any other poster. If I was a betting man, I would be that Ahern lied to the tribunal. Its pretty clear that he a dishonourable politician with strained relationship with the truth!

Reading between the lines, Ahern has been gunning for the Prize himself and is annoyed he didn't win one in 2008.

'I deserve it more dan he did. I did more fer peace in de north.'

    Hence the currrent statement.

    Sound familiar?

Of course it does! It's Ireland under Fianna Fail - The Soldiers of Bankruptcy.

    Fair enough so.
If I knew what "Per Diamer" meant I might even be able to agree, but then again depending on what I don't know, I might not.

Henry Kissinger won the Peace Prize so anything is possible.

May it would be a good thing if the alleged perjurer won the prize. It would be nice to see him come home from a foreign trip with some traceable funds in his insider pocket.
