I won't do a deal to share power with SF - Ahern

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern was accused last night of now being prepared to accept Sinn Fein support to stay in power.

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny said Fianna Fail had adopted a "dramatic new shift in position" by saying Sinn Fein could vote to keep them in Government.

Mr Kenny queried if Tanaiste Michael McDowell was also ready to accept Sinn Fein support to keep the PDs in office.

But Mr Ahern's officials rapidly dismissed Mr Kenny's allegations, saying there was no change in policy and Fianna Fail would not do any deal with Sinn Fein. - Irish Independent

I said on another post - I make no apologies for saying "I told you so" - I never had any doubts that FF would woo the devil himself to stay in power, look at the way they woo the former FFers the PDs.....

Just wait..... if things go as predicted Bertie will end up wooing anybody and everybody, even the poor Greens will be dragged in, despite their principles.....I just hope they do a Tony Gregory on him.....written commitment.....

a better question is, in the event of a major rift between the goverment and sinn fein over the next few months, would Mr Kenny actively attempt to prohibit sinn fein support of fine gael

    Barry,

FF will not do a deal of any sort with Sinn Fein!! Bertie said that he wont be asking for SF;s support/ At the end of the day, we can not stop the SF deputies from abstaining on Berties Election as Taoiseach and voting against Enda.

We can do nothing of the sort and nor should we. What we will do is try to maxmise the FF membership of Dáil Éireann

What Bertie is saying .. is that once the election of a Taoiseach is called at the beginning of the next Dail.. if the Shinners follow the FFers in through the lobby doors, he wont be asking them to leave until after they've been counted ...

I very much doubt Enda would either ...

In either case, I doubt the Shinners will be going in after either

    Ahern's word is worthless.

Truth and honesty is an alien concept to him.

FG are trying to distort what An Taoiseach actually said. He stated that in the past, the stigma on SF had revolved around criminality and terrorism, but that although that was now addressed, FF would still not enter govt with SF because of policy differences. The Blueshirts and the great majority of the Irish people know this and the latter will not be taken in by this cynical Blueshirt ruse.

Anyone caught on to the fact that this is just more Black Propaganda from FG.

Little ol Enda is in trouble in the Media.

Lets try and shift focus off him by throwing mud about SF and FF.

Sorry FG losers, it wont work.

Your leader is still ************************e and everybody knows it.

FT wake up and smell the coffee Bertie hates Mc Dowell but put up with him for power, getting into bed with SF would'nt be a problem but for Dublin Central reasons a facade has to be put up.
