    69ú Árd Fheis

I got an email today giving the dates and venue for this year's Árd Fheis. It's a 1 day Árd Fheis this October the 22nd in Killarney.

Now I fully support the policy to "decentralise" as it were the Árd Fheis around the country but I have to say why Kerry again? The last time there while it was a good venue it wasn't big enough for us and the main hall couldn't accomodate all the delegates. I assume that the Gleneagles has a bigger conference venue otherwise it is plain silly.

Also does any Fianna Fáiler recally voting last year to hold this Árd Fheis in Cork? I seem to remember supporting a motion at the Organisation workshop which was passed while I think the Kerry motion was defeated.

Given the main event is in March in Citywest, the decision to hold a one day non-voting Ard Fheis in October beggars belief.

Its utter crap that the country heads away off to the far corner of the country for pure illogical reasons. Why have a non-voting ard fheis.
Cavan Ógra conference was a disgrace and its to be in Ennis next.

Is it not easier to take Paidi Ó Sé to the Ard Fheis than taking the ard fheis to Paidí Ó Sé

Fair enough, we don't necessarily need the Ard Fheis in Dublin. But maybe Athlone, Galway, Cork, Dundalk. At least somewhere with good access and plenty of accommodation for delegates. Not some holiday homes along the Erne in Belturbet in rainey damp dark November.

You're geographical knowledge musn't be high Padraig

I was refering to the Ogra Conference in Co Cavan. In fact in the Slieve Russellin Ballyconnell. We had to stay in holiday homes along the Erne. The same Erne that flows through Enniskillen and I assume Ballyshannon in Donegal!

That conference was in November 2004.

Not actually intending to go to Kerry It need not be essential that I know the date of the Ard Fheis

Ah don't be knockin' Ballyconnell, that was a class weekend!! I wouldn't have cared where it was. The Ard Fheis are much better down the country, it gives us city-dwellers a chance to let our hair down out in the wilds of somewhere!!!

We all stayed in holiday homes that were miles for the hotel and they certainly didn't inhibit anyone fun!!!

I believe it might have something to do with trying to strengthen South Kerry Fianna Fáil which has been slipping of late.
