    Next Fianna Fáil Government

Okay folks, the pipedreams of a FG/Lab Government have been posted. And I don't think the substantive question has yet been asked; who will Bertie appoint?

Will he bring Brian Lenihan to cabinet, and who would loose out?
Or will he do his usual minor reshuffle and leave the difficulties to his successor?

I don't think that the taoiseach has ever rocked the boat to much with his cabinet appointments.
however with this likely to be his last election you never know. he may make appointments to influnce the nature of the party after his retirement.

I believe with the appointment of Sean Haughey as a minister of state, that will be Ahern's last ministrial appointment as Taoiseach, and FF's last ministirial appointment for some time

I hope he will ultimately sack Dick Roche over the electoral-register fiasco which may yet see thousands of voters turned away from the polls Florida-style next year.

Quick reminder FT: The Pd's may have gotten rid of Lenihan in the early years, but we will not be dictated to on appointments or sackings by members of your party!!!

Do you seriously think this is the Wicklow Windbag's greatest sin? If Bert the misLeader was going to fire him for just that, then he'd be the only minister left in the current jaded, incompetent cabinet! The rest would have realised just how useless they are, and quit!!!

Bertie is something like Tony Blair when it comes to reshuffles - they are not his forte - he messes them up.
When he wins the next election (cause less be honest it is looking that way) he needs to a clean sweep an Albert Reynolds hatch job - get rid of people like Cullen, Roche and bring in new fresh faces.

I love how the discussion is not policy related but what prats are at the cabinet table.

    FF

If its FF and Labour Bertie will have to fire 4 Ministers whether he likes it or not. He isn't going to make many sweeping changes and would probably like the electorate to leave some of his Ministers sitting at home so he doesn't have the choice to make.

Lenihan might get Justice and McDowell might get Environment. Possable Harney will stay in Health for a couple more years. If we come back with 6 or less seats, McDowell wont be Tanaiste.
Carey will have to get a job. hes too good to leave out but I think he's too nice to push for it.
    Bazinga!
