The confirmed buyout of the Westlink toll bridge by Fianna Fail (not now but in 2 years) is a peculiar oddity in their privatization agenda. The 600 million euros compensation for loss of anticipated revenue is not to be paid out immediately, because Berties boys would be a laughing stock when the proposed upgrade of the M50 and the extra pressure on all exit points would simply move the problem a few miles to other points along the carriageway.
Why is it going to be bought out anyway,if the tolls are never to be removed.?
The concept of government control in direct contravention of their policies of privatising everything from refuse to water.?
The government are currently reaping huge dividends from the Westlink because the agreement signed off many years ago with Westlink provides for the state to receive the lions share of the toll fees at the current (never anticipated) volume of traffic.
So why ruin a good thing for the taxpayers.? This deal stinks to high heaven.it is about time Prime Time or the media got their teeth in on this one.
