Everyone talks about affordable housing but there's not much reference to the lack of affordable office space in Dublin.
Well thanks for reminding us that the whole con was never about home-grown commerce.

Except for the developers who have sold everything on to international developers. And walked away, free.

No only the "occupied" part does and that was stated in the proposal. In theory an unoccupied unit would not be using any utilities and have its water turned off. Load of tosh TBH but they are just looking to minimise their exposure to anything.
Ok. So if a fire starts in the unoccupied unit does that mean all the other units will not be covered by the insurance?

    Because its illegal, remember?
Right, so their lack of knowledge that people who are residing in hostels are still homeless is illegal

No we'll be covered but I believe that we would lose the value of the unoccupied unit, on a rebuild and repair claim and we'd be in court with any owner. That's really a dungheap we hope we never have to wade into! The immediate removal of insurance is a good motivator for any owner to have someone in there.

Ah no, that wont do: you said what was happening in Apollo House was illegal, so you need to go down there and give them a piece of your mind, such as it is. Off you go!

Affordable housing takes precedence over affordable office space. Rightly so? I think so.

In a way aren't they the same problem in terms of origin?

    Of course they are

If you have a genuine commitment to your nation, you build for business/industry and the people who serve them.

You dont get pissed in a Galway race tent with your mates in construction, and say, Shewer, the banks will give ye the loan and ye will have no problem with the planning permission. Its all on the up and up, pass me my envelope.

    Pennies from heaven....

They have stated that it's a dry house. There are security on the door.
Have they assessed the residents as being drug and alcohol free? Do the residents have to sign a tenancy agreement and what does it say about drugs and alcohol? Do they have a drugs management policy and what's the procedure for conducting searches of the bedrooms/private spaces or if they suspect that a person may be dealing or bringing and using drugs on to the premises?

I don't know. They're on Twitter. Ask them.

Never fear, either we will never know, or it will be all cuddly kids and a couple of dogs/cats that need immediate shelter for the publicity.

Sorry if I come across as a totally unfeeling fecker, but honestly, this side of Christmas at least, all the stuff you mention is not on anyone's radar.

Except the Receiver's of course! And they are on a mission. In some ways I don't blame them. They have a job to do aswell as the Homeless Charities do.
