    New Irish commissioner

So who will be the new Commissioner will it be one of the names been mentioned , Pat Cox ,Maire Geoghan Quinn, John Bruton ,

From the three names I personally think that Brian Cowan in the national interest should nominate John Bruton but I cannot see that been accepted within the Fianna Fail party.

Bruton has proven himself as a well respected politican with experience and he would also increase our chances of a high profile posting.

Is there any other names in the hat or any suggestions as to who would be the best person for the job.

I doubt John Bruton would downgrade himself like that.

I think it will be Pat Cox, Maire Geoghegan-Quinn or Eoin Ryan. Cowen is getting a little careless with respect to the Dail arithmetic, having sacrificed Gallagher's seat in spite of the loss of Seamus Brennan's seat. The present arithmetic is: FF 76 (including CC and Joe Behan), FG 52, Lab 20, Green 6, SF 4, Ex-PD 2, Ind 5 (excluding Behan). To throw away 1 seat can be regarded as an accident. To lose two in the present environment is carelessness.

Would Dick Burke be up for another shot at it?

You are correct that is why Noel Dempsy will not be considered , I have heard that he is interested ?

Would Eoin Ryan have the experience ?
