FT doesn't do "real" politics, Cookie. He posts on the internet and demands/calls on others to set up parties that match his views. Every so often he hitches his online wagon to a party that he thinks stands for absolutely everything he believes in - but then, when that party has to make compromises in the real world, or, God forbid, modifies a policy in light of changing circumstances, he feels utterly betrayed and disowns them.
"Elite - a small superior group; esp one that has a power out of proportion to its size." (Oxford English Dictionary)

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.

He was a major factor in the defeat of Lisbon 1. Hardly an epic failure....

It's no loss. God knows they didn't do all that much the last time. The radical left and SF did the donkey work, they only took the credit. It is obvious now that it was the stunt of a very vain man to build a political platform for himself. Now that this platform has failed, he has run off with his tail between his legs. Pathetic really.
