Is Ganley Ireland's version of Jean-Marie Le Pen?

Irish politics - lies -dishonesty - what a shocker.
A P.ie moderator stated this on June 25th 2010: P.ie tolerates very broad free speech, and thus allows sectarian bigotry etc

Close enough, although they aren't friendly any more.

Libertas's allies are nearly all of the far right. He's a free marketeer and anti Trade Union.

Could you source where he's anti-Trade Union. Genuinely interested.

The BBC are saying the same thing I am:

The vote was done in 2005: Top Stories from the European Parliament 2004-2009

    A common salary for MEPs

A single Statute for Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) was approved in June 2005 by an overwhelming majority.

From June 2009, all MEPs are to earn around €7,665 a month, thus ending the wide pay disparities that result from the current system of MEPs earning the same as national MPs in their home countries. The rules set MEPs’ salaries as 38.5% of the salary of a European Court of Justice judge.

MEPs will pay income tax to the EU budget, though Member States also retain an option to apply in addition taxation up to the level of national rates.

The agreement allows for a transition period during which, for MEPs elected by its citizens, each Member State may continue to apply different rules from those of the Statute. Current MEPs who are re-elected may also opt to continue their existing national arrangements.
At the time of agreement the exchange rate between the sterling and the Euro was roughly 1.5, it has since collapsed down to 1.1/1.0 explaining the sudden magical 27% payrise.

MEP's did not vote themselves a payrise. its a blatant lie.

Also the Galvin report which the BBC cites was done in 2004 and was a reason for the new pay scheme:

A spokesman for the European Parliament said it had acted on the findings of the Galvin Report.

"It has had important consequences. The result has been a complete overhaul of this system to enter into force after the June elections," he told the Times newspaper.

My only criticism of the new system was that British MEP's are allowed to take advantage of the low EU level income tax rate as well as the exchange rate but:

British MEPs say this is untrue, as they have voted to opt out of the European tax rate and will pay the same tax as anyone in Britain.
but it seems that has been dealt with from the bbc article.

Its all lies, why would you expect anything else from Mr Ganley or his little greasy henchmen like McGuirk? What is an Irish MEP's salary now? 9000 per month or is it more? After the election it will be the flat 7000 for all MEPs, as you say.

For me, the one thing missing from the reform that will enter into force after the election is that the subsistence allowance will not be fundamentally changed. So dishonest MEPs can still sign on at the start of a day they do not intend to work and claim the daily allowance of over 200 euro, as Kathy Sinnott was caught doing.
