Obviously the yes side see him as a threat to their Establishment agenda of bartering away Irish self-determination to the bureaucrats in Brussels with their new €9 million European Parliament swimming-pool and sauna paid for ny yours truly to show how much Ireland loves the Eurocrats and their refusal to take no for an answer from national electorates. The elites may rubbish Ganley's chances in June, but the fact they are so obsessed with him suggests these chances are greater than they are letting on. Their smear-tactics will, as before, backfire on them badly.

    I too made that point with reference to Enda Kenny instead of FF.

    The article answers that for you, but you seem to have overlooked it.

    A spokesperson for Libertas declined to comment on whether Libertas still had contacts with LPR members, saying only that it “has never allied itself with political parties in Poland”.

    I know I've asked you this a trillion times, but what difference is one more time going to make

    The elites are the majority of the political-class and the leaderships of the so-called 'representative' bodies in big business, small business (though to a lesser extent) and certainly in the media and farming orgs that slavishly support every EU treaty without question. In particular, elitism is embodies by a contempt for public-opinion when it gets in the way of their plans. In this respect, while being a wealthy man, Ganley is not as much part of an elite as the businessmen and Eurocrats who are bankrolling the yes campaign. He is choosing to side with the expressed will of the Irish people and against the powerful elites that are out to get him with the endless politically-motivated SIPO leaks and attacks on his character by ministers like Dick Roche who called him a snake-oil salesman, according to the press.

    wealthy business men who can afford to start their own astro turf organisations, convert them into one-men political parties, and them fly around Europe holding various press events and expensive campaign launches

    So there were no problems with the League of Polish Families when it:

    * opposed the selling of land to foreign nationals
    * opposed gay marriage
    * supported capital punishment
    * televised allegedly anti-semitic adverts

    It's only drink-driving that excludes them from respectable company?

    You'd have to ask FF that, seeing as FF have been sitting with them in the UEN for some time now. Though don't ask the Irish Times about it because they didn't see fit to have a hissy fit about that any time in the past.

    Some might say there's a wee difference between sitting in the same group at the EP (and there's few EP groups that don't contain something nasty) and having your application for recognition endorsed by them.

    Any more than having the Obama campaign endorsed by Rev Wright?

    Other than Ganley's own remarks on this, the only reference I can see to this is in the Telegraph. Can anybody provide verification that any such swimming pool actually exists?
