It seems that President Vaclav Klaus - that great champion of free speech, democracy and sanity - is one of the star guests at a seminar billed as "the largest ever gathering of climate change deniers", entitled "Global Warming: Was It Ever Really a Crisis?"

The Irish Times

“The largest threat to freedom, democracy, the market economy, and prosperity, at the end of the 20th and at the beginning of the 21st century, is no longer socialism.
“It is, instead, the ambitious, arrogant, unscrupulous ideology of environmentalism,” Mr Klaus will say, according to prepared remarks provided by the organisers of the conference, the Heartland Institute, a Chicago think tank that shares the Czech president’s free-market views.

He adds: “Environmentalism and the global alarmism are challenging our freedom.”
Those in attendance with Klausy include an atmospheric physicist, a hurricane forecaster, and a former astronaut. (With crazy jobs like that, they must surely be among the signatories of the Libertas charter?)

I wonder, what does poor Patricia McKenna think of all of this? She defended Klaus a few months back, saying:

"The main reason for going was because I was annoyed that the Government wanted to suppress the views of President Klaus and restrict media access to him
I wonder what Patricia's view of this little doozie?

Libertas have also praised and féted Klaus on a number of occasions. For example, "Libertas senior spokesperson", pro-life campaign mole, will-she-won't-she Dublin Euro candidate and all-round intellectual heavyweight Caroline Simons said in Novemeber:

I congratulate President Klaus on his courage, dignity, and service.
What is Libertas' position on the ould climate change? Is there anything on it in their 5-page manifesto?
