Icelands EU accession looks frozen stiff

If you forgive the cheesy pun, Iceland looks as far away as ever from EU membership as the likely majority coalition partner the Left-Green's say they will campign for a No to both an open accession talks referendum and a final proposal referendum. They have said they would not oppose the calling of such referenda though.
Funny when you look through their reasons for opposing membership it looks like a lot of what the irish no side were saying about lisbon:
Democratic deficit, lack of transparency, laval judgement, neo liberal direction, getting shafted over fisheries etc.
So the yes side's Iceland arguement could well be dead before october.

In the long run they would be better out than in. They are a small country with a small population. They would be better off getting back to basics trying to focus on tourism and fisheries.
