Libertas launches new website (and campaign for 2009 EU Parliament elections too)

    Libertas.eu

Brussels, 11 December - Libertas will contest the European elections in 2009 on a Pan-European basis, its chairman Declan Ganley announced today.

Speaking to a packed Press Conference at Libertas’ newly opened European Headquarters in Brussels, Mr. Ganley said that Libertas would field candidates across the European Union on a common pro-European platform of democracy, accountability and transparency.

Mr. Ganley stated that Europeans have reached a crossroads: “If people want a strong and healthy Europe that is democratic and answerable to them, they should vote for a Libertas candidate. If they do not want Europe to succeed or if they are happy with the current undemocratic practises, then they should vote for an incumbent party. For those who weren’t given a vote on the Lisbon Treaty, this will be their referendum”.

It looks lovely Cookie. Best of luck.
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

Nice website...although the new logo is a bit odd. Anyway I look forward to reading the policy documents.

I'll be interested to see how you avoid being aligned with the likes of UKIP who want to see the destruction of the EU.

I can see a lot of people, myself included, using the phrase "anti-EU group Libertas"

In that symbol on Libertas.eu is the figure raising up the 12 stars of the EU flag or pulling them down...

Whether one agrees with the politics of Libertas (which are still unclear on many issues) the development of what is effectively the first pan-European party is actually to be welcomed. It may be a catalyst for the development of other pan-European parties, e.g., a unified EU socialist party, popular party, etc., in response...

This is the most hateful anguish of all among men, to understand much and to prevail in nothing.

I woudn't suspect there will be much crossover between Libertas and UKIP. They both advocate vert different ideas about Europe.

I can see an awful lot of people looking like idiots while doing so. If you want to be one of them then that is your choice and your problem.

    Good luck.

I do not see myself supporting Libertas but I do recognise that there is
a need to open out debate on many issues around Lisbon.

I presume the photos will change regularly with new issues as one does not want
to be looking at the Chair's Image all the time?
