He does look younger in that photo though...
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

More power to them. They will have my vote if they run here in East.

I really REALLY hope that Libertas run candidates here in Ireland. I look forward to seeing how they would fare when faced with the following:

    1) No grassroots organisation of any kind
    2) No media coverage during the election, except that on a par with the Socialist Workers Party
    3) Severe spending restrictions and disclosure requirements on a par with other parties

Will Mr. Ganley be referring to himself as "British" when in the UK promoting his candidates there?

I'm no supporter of Mr Ganley, or Libertas, and while I understand your point, it is possible to be both Irish and British (as Mr Ganley is) and it is certainly possible to be both while at all times being simply a European...running in a European election...
If Europe is to have any chance of success, it is surely necessary to overcome national identity issues...

This is the most hateful anguish of all among men, to understand much and to prevail in nothing.

Why is Libertas in Austria seeking contributions to Libertas's Swedish campaign? I suppose it may go some way to explaining the funding oddities!

Fair play to Libertas for making this decision.. any attempt to widen the demcoratic choice is a good thing... once they are on the ballots, let the people decide

It's also welcome from another point of view. It'll be the first time since the direct elections to the European Parliament, that voters across Europe can vote for a singular pan-European party

I've often wondered why FG or Labour for example don't canvass themselves as members of the EPP or the PES ? Anyone care to help here from those parties?

It's also a good opportunity to have a de-facto Lisbon Treaty referendum across Europe.. though Libertas may be in for a shock here.. while many FF/FG voters would have voted No to Lisbon.. they may not be as likely to vote for a Libertas candidate over a party candidate in a Euro election.. and if Libertas don't do very well in the election, you will certainly have the main parties spinning a poor performance as a justification for re-running Lisbon a few months later

What I still fail to understand however, is why any re-run of Lisbon is not held on the same day as the locals and Euros. Surely if listening to the political leaders of Europe that Lisbon is the most important challenge facing the EU at this moment.. then an open debate on the Treaty, when EU issues are in peoples mind at election time, would be the most opportune and honest time to re-run the referendum

That said, I wish whatever Libertas candidate who runs all the best.. the same as I would wish a candidate from any other party all the best.. and I'd imagine, whoever runs in Munster, will be fairly high up on my list of preferences

And just as an image thing.. Declan Ganley should shave his head completely.. give himself a "Pim Fortyn" look.. much stronger look than half bald.. but thats just my opinion
