Czech eurosceptic president "goes mad" at meeting with MEPs

    *Quoting Czech news*

"Today's meeting between Czech president Václav Klaus and the Conference of the Committee Chairmen of the European Parliament resulted in a sharp diplomatic skirmish...

What infuriated Klaus, though, was not a question about the Treaty that has been recently approved by the Czech Constitutional Court despite his objections but rather a question about his planned new party Libertas.cz."

January through to June are going to be fun months...
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

I am not a fan of January but once February comes, its six nations time again. What is your point though?

My point is that it's going to be a colourful presidency under Klaus. I disagree with the man on most issues but I can still see that he is going to challenge Sarko for "Most "interesting" president".

What got him angry was that he asked to raise the EU flag over Prague Castle, which is the seat of the Czech President. As a sovereigntist known to be opposed to the Treaty, it is reasonable that he would have felt provoked by that. Cohn-Bendit was winding him up. After months of villifying the no campaign it seems he can dish it out but can't take it. It's ironic to see a former anti-Establishment figure like Bendit now be so in step with the Establishment in the EU.

I'm sorry, were you there? I thought you just lived behind a computer screen.

If you weren't there, did Klaus text you? or how do you know more than a few different media reports? According to the reports (more than one) he flipped over the Libertas link.

Klaus will certainly add colour if given the chance. I imagine Topolanek (or whatever he is called) will try and keep Klaus very much in his cage.
