    Yeah, many lefties criticise the role of the Turkish military. They want to see the Turks allowed to vote in hardline islamic clerics into gov as is their democratic right.

    Of course, once those nutjobs gain control, 'democracy' will be kaput anyway.

    Similar to the way Muj criticises the US for overthrowing 'the democratic gov of Afghanistan' - the fkn Taliban !

    Democracy and Islam are fundamentally incompatible. End of. There is no way Turkey should be admitted - not now, not in 15 years, not ever.

    I am sorry to say that those Turkish islamists are now in government. PM Erdogan has served a prison sentence for inciting religious hatred. AKP now control the presidency also.
