Lisbon Treaty defeated in mock referendum in UK

The Tonight Show on ITV(UTV in NI) last night had a programme about Europe, unfortunately I missed it because it was supposed to be on last week, and Polly Towers has relocated recently to be nearer the Aras and has no telly for now - but anyways.

They did a poll, where they asked people how they would vote if the Lisbon treaty was put to a referendum.

27% would vote yes, 63% would vote no, 10% were undecided.

What's interesting about this poll, is attitudes to the EU are starkly different than to here in Ireland.

35% would vote to remain in the EU, 54% would vote to leave the EU, and 11% were undecided.

Aye, I was wondering if I should pre-empt the usual response of

Oh well the Brits are clearly anti-europe so we shouldn't pay attention to them, and anyways, look what the Brits did to us paddys!

I wouldn't have expected any less to be honest but I also feel that our attitude towards Europe is slowly changing. People are beginning to see the EU establishment for what they are - non-democratic control freaks (especially Sarkozy {or should that be Sarcastic })

Alot of the tories are still stuck in the times of the empire so they don't fully understand this EU business. Surely they won the war and not the jerries?

Anyway if the Brits don't want the lisbon treaty then they shouldn't have it forced upon them whatever their reasons for objecting to it.

Forgive my ignorance but I was just curious; do all British people live in Luton?

And surprise surprise that a more Eurosceptic population is more anti-Lisbon. This in spite of the fact that being anti-Lisbon is apparently a pro-Europe position eh Dave.

Perhaps you are objecting to British people having a say because you know they will reject your precious lisbon treaty?

I assume he's objecting to a pseudo-scientific poll being used as the basis for discussion

    -No geographical spread
-No indication of any attempt to sample properly

It has about as much legitimacy as a Sky News Text In poll.
