Europarl TV Launched; Journalists Worry About Propaganda

    EU Observer article

On the surface of it, the station looks like the EU Parliament's version of C-Span. However, a sizeable number of journalists are worried about the heavy involvement of Mostra (based in Brussels), which has been known for producing, as they call it, "propaganda" for the EU Commission, as well as VNRs (video news releases) that sometimes masquerade as independently-produced news programmes, or at least the source of the programming is rarely, if ever, revealed by the TV station running the VNR.

Anglophone journalists seem to be on strike when it comes to reporting anything that happens in Brusselles - besides the usual straight-banana and small-condom stories which originate in right-wing Think-Tanks.

This is a smart move by the EU.

Re: Europarl TV Launched; Journalists Worry About Propaganda

Why would anyone bother using a channel that's only going to be watched by ultra hard-cord political nerds for propaganda purposes?

    Link for EuroparlTV is here.

At first glance it looks like a cross between Euronews and the RTE's European Parliament version of Oireachtas Report.
