Re: Tories promise to kill Lisbon if Ireland stands her ground

So, how do our Sinn Fein and Socialist Party friends feel about their new anti-Lisbon allies now?
ever heard the expression... 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend'? It is simple logic really.

We have seen plenty of unholy alliances over the course of the EU constitution/Lisbon debacle, and are likely to see many more. If there is to be a re-run how many FG and FF party members are likely to defect from the party line? I'd imagine quite a few, however more notably, the reason wouldn't have anything to do with Sinn Fein or David Cameron. I'm sure they'd have there own co-incidental motives though.

its also happening in Germany, according to Private Eye pair of eurosceptic MPs, one from the left andone from the right, have taken a case to the german supreme court, the couyrt has ruled that the treaty does impact on German sovereignty, the German president is now hesitating about signing it into law. the British people are far more eurosceptic than the Irish, and with every passing day the claim by the Yes advicates that the no side in Ireland are unrepresentative and and undemocratic lookss more ands more ridiculous

Its funny how europe has united people. The Tories will ultimately be our greatest ally as it will take a big country to finally kill off "EU Constitution/Lisbon/Any other guise".

My understanding is that the court hasn't ruled on the issue yet.

Re: Tories promise to kill Lisbon if Ireland stands her ground

William Hague, the Conservatives' foreign affairs spokesman, called on EU leaders to "declare the Lisbon treaty dead" and to concentrate instead on making the Union work under its existing rules.
The same William Hague wrote in the Irish Times last week "No outsider has any right to tell the Irish how to handle Lisbon"
