    Europe thanks Ireland

Ireland helped save western civilisation before by dispelling the encroaching forces then threatening its very foundations back in the Dark Ages.

Now Ireland has done it again by throwing a spanner deep into the works of the totalitarian political machine that is the EU.

The following videos were doing the rounds not long ago, which demonstrate just how grateful the ordinary citizens of Europe were. You won't see them on RTE!

I thought it was a roads-building machine, at least as far as our relationship with it has gone.

Great to hear citizens taking an interest in the future of their countries. I think if people across the EU made enough noise, politicians would have no choice but to look at alternatives. If the people are not happy with the direction the EU is taking, & feel politicians are not listening, it will probably not succeed or even last. I don't see why, having looked into it as much as time would allow & discussed it with people I have high regard for, it (the Lisbon Treaty) is being presented as the only option, one we must accept.

Well I know enough people who don't thank ireland.
    like me.
Still, even as the investor consensus ravages the euro, it's worth remembering that the same herd instinct not long ago was pronouncing last rites for the dollar. Last year, as China's central bank chief called for a new global currency and Russian central bankers dumped greenbacks to buy euros, many saw the dollar's decline as inevitable. Now, the dollar is riding high, and the euro looks bedraggled.

I'd like to thank the Netherlands for their 'no' to the Constitution. Pass it on, will you? Good chap.
