    Most Czechs against ratifying Lisbon

Opposition to the European Union's Lisbon Treaty has hardened in the Czech Republic with a majority now saying it should not be ratified by parliament, according to a poll released Friday.

The survey, conducted in June by the STEM polling agency, found 53 percent of Czechs opposed to the treaty, with 47 percent in favour. A similar survey in April found 53 percent favoured the treaty's ratification.

Of course they dont know too much about it. Still a welcome development.

Most means almost all, not a tiny majority. Please be clear when writing a title.

In this instance it is written as almost or nearly.

Well they use that title in the article so Im not qualified to argue. But this isnt about titles, its amazing that 3 years after joining the promised land , a majority are willing to go against an EU treaty.

Strictly speaking he/she can clarify the title by substituting "most" with "majority of". Further still, if he/she is a journo they should add something about the "latest poll results". Still I don't think many will lose any sleep over the title.

They were pro-Lisbon prior to our vote. Probably having witnessed the snarling dissatisfaction of the elites at the temerity of the people not to agree with them they have had second thoughts.

Perhaps this should be taken up with the editor of EU Business as that is where the original error occurred. Or are the titles also copyrighted?

This is very good news and underlines that the real isolation is of the elites from their populations, rather than of Ireland from the European mainstream on Lisbon. I'm wondering will this become a big issue in the Senate elections in the Autumn? There is some talk of a possible leadership challenge to Mirek Topolanek from the ODS party's Eurosceptic wing.
