Eu to open it's own police stations?

The idea would be similar to what had already been done in policing of big sports events,
"That's part of what Europe is about," Michele Alliot-Marie, interior minister of France.

It would be a Trojan Horse - over time they would be bases used to exert EU Law across the board.

Personally I would shun any foreigner who tried to tell me what to do in my own Country.

The EU as it stands and the direction it is taking, is an absolute recipe for disaster.

Any chance the words "under a proposal" and "could" be inserted into the title of this thread - ya know - in keeping with the article its quoting and for context and the like. Also some knowledge of grammar and an ability to distinguish between "it's" and "its " and when to use either wouldn't go astray either.

Oops I forgot - that kind of balance is only obligatory for anybody unfortunate enough to have campaigned for a Yes Vote in the last referendum.

Carry on there - nothing to see here - don't mind me.

I agree. They would become slowly become spies inside Ireland. They would gradually come to replace the Gardai, with their first loyalty to the EU, they would be the Gestapo in disguise. Eventually they could be used to dispel disquiet within Ireland at a future date. If we ever tried to break away from the EU, I could imagine them being used to put down a second Easter Rising in 2016!!

    EU law already applies here
They're not there to tell you what to do they are there to answer questions, ie if you were in spain a Garda at one of thee stations, it's a good idea.

Dumb idea from what is fast becoming the most meglomaniac regime in recent french history. Couldn't a local plod who speaks your language do the same job?

Lads and Ladies - keep a count of all the french proposals vis a vis the EU that are going to happen in the next six months and then wait for the end of the French Presidency and see how many have been thrown in bin -ie probably all of them - Lithuania will get more proposals thru than the French - its all hot air and UK rightwing newspaper headlines - happens all the time - the last significant french proposal to make it thru was CAP and that took more than 10 years.

Yep don't forget in middle England that France is still the enemy and Europe an unfortunate occurrence. Pity they won't drag themselves out of the 14th and 15th century.
